WE NEED TO FIND EACH OTHER

SYNOPSIS

What happens if I forget to remember? How can I understand a past I haven't lived through?

For this creation, Brian Ca and Douglas Becker are focusing their research on the themes of memory and identity, and have invited composer Mike Sherida, as well as Yaz Sané, a multi-talented artist in dance, poetry and theater, to collaborate on this project.

Through a hybrid, intergenerational performance, drawing on our collective archives, the protagonists seek to create a sensory dialogue, not only between themselves, but also with the audience placed in 360° on the stage. In this performative space, a body, that of 67-year-old Douglas, lies on a dissection table as the audience enters. He asks himself: "What happens if I forget to remember? How can I understand a past I didn't live through? What am I doing here?"
What if questioning one's identity, gender or memories, allowed new perspectives to emerge? How can we imagine together new, non-hierarchical modes of reciprocal exchange that will enable us to coexist in a more meaningful way ?

SYNOPSIS

A body in pain is put on display for all to see. It is helpless, disembodied.

He can’t get up again, everyone witnesses the dysfunction, the need, but nobody helps. Are we voyeurs or actors? Witnesses or executioners? How will each of us react, and how will others interpret? What place do we give to mutual aid in our society?

By placing the spectator in the role of audience-witness, Brian Ca exposes society’s ills. Echoing topics such as social injustice, war, illness, homelessness and disability, this piece resonates with all types of audiences, children and adults alike, and pro-vokes strong emotions in spectators alike.
