Cie Empreintes
Supported by the non-profit organization La Fabrique à Rêves, the company Empreintes has primarily carried the work of choreographer Clémence Baucant since 2020. The company develops research and creation projects that explore the dialogue between dance and music, while engaging with Caribbean rites and mythologies through a contemporary lens. It fosters cross-disciplinary collaborations between artists from the fields of choreography, sound, and visual arts.
The company first emerged as a collective in 2012 during the Urbaka Festival in Limoges. For this edition, a performance was created exploring the dialogue between body and sound within an urban environment. This initial trio — two dancers and a percussionist — laid the foundations of the company’s artistic direction: a transversal approach in which dance and music form a single skin.
This dialogue, as a founding principle, is combined with an “outside the walls” approach, presenting choreographic work both on stage and in situ. Dance unfolds through multifaceted encounters with places, sounds, gazes, bodies, sensorial experiences, and other forms of dance — each time to be reinvented.
