LA MANGROVE
Created in 2007, the company identifies with a fragile ecosystem where one can become lost and liberated—a “Tout-monde” (Édouard Glissant) where roots intertwine and adapt, allowing for possible openings and necessary escapes. Influenced by poetry and mythology, by history and the evolution of society, Hubert Petit-Phar explores themes of resilience and identity in each of his works. The relationship between Human(s) and Territory(ies), flows and memory, lies at the heart of his creative process.
“Aesthetic, political, symbolic borders”: the choreographer questions the concept of borders—centrality, polycentrism, distance, and porosity—with a key focus on the urgency of collectively fighting against all forms of withdrawal, especially identity-based ones.
